When describing an item of an unknown title, such as a doodad, this phrase is used to make the sentence sound less silly, fully completed, and educated.

The compartment in your car in which you typically put your registration - similar to the "glove compartment."

You'll get rich faster if you hire somebody to help with some of the tasks that you're getting payed for and take a percentage of the profit he or she made doing the jobs at the same time as you are doing your jobs, thus, you are using more than ten fingers.

A dance style that was developed around the 1920's to the 1930's that was designed for jazz music and is akin to swing dance.
We danced the Lindy Hop all night at the jazz club.
